Medical Test The field of medical science & medicine is a sunrise-career option full of challenging opportunities encompassing vast area of Research & Development. Indian doctors are appreciated & revered the world over for their effective, easily accessible precise treatment & diagnosis. This is recognition of the quality of Medical Education in our country. Moreover we are living in the age of Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering & Bioinformatics. So the scope & range of options in Medical science is enormous. You have before you B.H.U., AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC & various state PMT 's but PMT has a National appeal, as this entrance examination is conducted exclusively for the 15% Merit Positions for the Medical / Dental colleges of India, as specified in the directive of the Supreme Court. So this examination attracts the 'Best young brains. Some Useful information about PMT: Eligibility The candidate should be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before pre-decided date. To be eligible to appear in competitive entrance examination, candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as mentioned in the Information Bulletin. Provided also that to be eligible for competitive entrance examination the candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Schedule Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Students from Andhra Pradesh / J & K are not eligible to appear as both these states had opted out of All India scheme. But the students of these states can claim eligibility by submitting an affidavit in original attested by First class Judicial Magistrate that they are not eligible to compete for MBBS/BDS seats in Andhra Pradesh and J&K, or that they are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh and J&K. Educational Qualification: The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination, after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology (with practical tests in these subjects). The intermediate/pre-degree examination in Science of Indian Universities /Board or other recognized examination body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology. PMT : Exam pattern The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours. Final Examination (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination). The Final Examination would consist of two papers each of 2 hours duration. Paper-I would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper-2 would contain questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology). The Final Examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions to be answered in the Test Booklet supplied. |
